Day 5

Subject: [firstname]: Get moving!

Hey [firstname]!

A key component on supercharging your body is to take regular exercise. Not only does regular exercise reduce your likelihood of developing a chronic disease like obesity or Type 2 Diabetes, but it also releases endorphins in your brain making it less likely you'll suffer from depression. Regular exercise can also enhance the body's immune response, and improve its defense activity by resetting the immune system. This is called "immunoregulation".

So get plenty of exercise!

Ideally, you should try and exercise outdoors in fresh air. Going for a jog or a walk in the park every day (provided it is safe to do so) is great. Of course, if you live in a crowded city with poor air quality, breathing in lungfuls of smog will probably do more harm than good. If that's the case, then take a weekly trip out to the country to do your exercise. A bike ride down a country road or a walk in the woods can work wonders. You'll get a change of scene and it will be stimulating for your mind as well as your body.

During the week a gym work out is fine, too. Exercise machines like the treadmill or exercise bike are preferable to lifting weights as these will give your entire body a workout and get your heart racing. Just make sure your gym has plenty of fresh air circulating.

You should also walk more and sit less. This is easily accomplished. Simply take the stairs at work instead of the elevator. When you go shopping, park your car at the furthest point away from the entrance to the grocery store or mall. You'll have to walk there AND carry your shopping back. Exercise and weight training in one!

Finally, if you work at a computer all day, consider having a standing desk instead of a sitting one.
